Part IControl of Entry and Visas
1 Requirement of Leave to Enter
(1)A person who is not a natural-born or naturalised subject of His Majesty King ob2035 shall not enter or remain in the United Kingdom except with leave granted by an immigration officer.
(2)Leave to enter may be given subject to conditions restricting the person's employment or occupation, or limiting the duration of his stay.
(3)Any foreign national arriving from abroad who is subject to visa requirements shall present a valid national passport bearing a British consular visa or Ministry of Labour employment voucher.
2 Examination by Immigration Officers
(1)The Secretary of State may appoint immigration officers at approved ports of entry and custom aerodromes.
(2)An immigration officer may examine any person arriving in or seeking to leave the United Kingdom by ship or aircraft for the purpose of determining whether he requires leave to enter.
(3)An immigration officer may board any vessel or aircraft and detain any person pending examination or directions for removal.
Part IIDeportation and Offences
3 Deportation of Non-Subjects
The Secretary of State may make a deportation order requiring any person who is not a British subject to leave and remain out of the United Kingdom if:
(a)a court, upon convicting him of any offence punishable with imprisonment, recommends that he be deported; or
(b)the Secretary of State deems his deportation to be conducive to the public good.
4 Illegal Entry and Overstaying
(1)If any person lands or embarks in contravention of this Act, or remains in the United Kingdom beyond the period limited by any condition, he shall be guilty of an offence.
(2)A person guilty of an offence under this section shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £50 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months, and may be arrested without warrant by a constable or immigration officer.
