Part ISolemnization of Marriage
1 Age of Marriage
A marriage solemnized between persons either of whom is under the age of sixteen years shall be void.
2 Consents for Minors
Where a person is under twenty-one years of age, the consent of the father, or if dead the mother, shall be required prior to the grant of a licence or the publication of banns.
Part IIPreliminaries and Ceremonies
3 Banns and Common Licences
(1)A marriage according to the rites of the Church of England may be solemnized after the publication of banns of matrimony on three successive Sundays.
(2)A superintendent registrar’s certificate may be issued upon payment of a fee of one shilling and sixpence (1s. 6d.).
4 Registration Fees
The fee payable to a registrar for registering a marriage and delivering a certified copy of the register entry shall be two shillings and sevenpence (2s. 7d.).
