An Act of Tynwald to regulate the jurisdiction and constitution of the High Court of Justice of the Isle of Man; to define the office of Deemster; and for connected purposes.

Part IConstitution of the Court
1 The High Court of Justice
(1)The High Court of Justice of the Isle of Man shall consist of the Lieutenant Governor, the First Deemster and Clerk of the Rolls, and the Second Deemster.
(2)The High Court shall comprise the Staff of Government Division for appellate business, and the Common Law Division for ordinary civil and criminal matters.
2 The Office of Deemster
The Deemsters shall take and subscribe the ancient Oath of the Deemster to execute justice between party and party as indifferently as the herring backbone doth lie in the midst of the fish.
Part IIJurisdiction and Practice
3 Manx Customary Law
The High Court shall administer the customary common law and ancient statutes of the Isle of Man, and where the customary law is silent, the court shall apply the rules of equity and English common law so far as suited to the conditions of the Island.

This Act may be cited as the Isle of Man High Court of Justice Act.
