Part ISafety and Operating Regulations
1 Signalling and Track Maintenance
(1)All railways worked by locomotive engines shall operate under an approved absolute block system of signalling to prevent collisions between trains on the same line.
(2)Level crossings over public roads shall be provided with gates and attended by a crossing-keeper unless equipped with approved automated barriers.
2 Trespass on Railway Lines
Any person who unlawfully trespasses upon any line of railway, siding, or track embankment after having received warning by notice exhibited shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding £2.
Part IIPassenger and Freight Tariffs
3 Passenger Fares
(1)The maximum rate for third-class passenger travel shall not exceed twopence (2d.) for every mile travelled.
(2)Every passenger travelling upon a railway without having previously paid his fare and with intent to avoid payment shall be liable to a fine not exceeding £2.
