An Act to consolidate enactments relating to game licences; to prevent night poaching; to regulate close seasons for game birds; and for connected purposes.

Part IGame Licences and Poaching

1 Night Poaching

(1)If any person shall unlawfully take or destroy any game or rabbits by night, on any land, or on the paths or gates of any highway, he shall be liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months.

(2)Night shall be deemed to commence at the expiration of one hour after sunset, and to conclude at the beginning of the last hour before sunrise.

2 Game Licences

No person shall kill, take, or pursue any pheasant, partridge, grouse, or hare unless he holds an annual excise licence, the duty for which shall be £3.

Part IIClose Seasons

3 Close Seasons for Game

No person shall kill or take any pheasant between the first day of February and the first day of October, under penalty of a fine not exceeding £1 for every head of game taken.

4 Citation

This Act may be cited as the Game Laws and Poaching Prevention Act.
