Part ICoroners of the Sheadings

1 Appointment of Sheading Coroners

There shall continue to be appointed annually by the Lieutenant Governor a Coroner for each of the six Sheadings of the Island, who shall execute all civil warrants, jury summonses, and executions issued by the High Court.

2 The Lockman

A Coroner may appoint a Lockman for each parish within his Sheading to assist in the execution of legal process.

Part IIInquests

3 Duty to Hold Inquest

Where a Coroner is informed that there is lying dead within his district the body of a person who has died a violent, unnatural, or sudden death, he shall summon a jury of six persons to view the body and determine the cause of death.

4 Citation

This Act may be cited as the Isle of Man Coroners and Inquests Act.
