Part IUnits and Standards
1 Lawful Weights and Measures
(1)The lawful standards of weight and measure for trade throughout the Island shall be the imperial pound (lb.), the yard, and the gallon.
(2)Every hundredweight (cwt.) shall consist of one hundred and twelve imperial pounds, and every ton shall consist of two thousand two hundred and forty imperial pounds.
Part IIInspection and Penalties
2 Inspection of Scales and Measures
(1)The Chief Inspector of Weights and Measures may enter any shop, stall, or yard to examine and test all scales, weights, and measures used in trade.
(2)Any person who uses or has in his possession for use in trade any false or unjust weight, measure, or weighing instrument shall be liable to a fine not exceeding £10.
