Part ILarceny and Theft
1 Definition of Stealing
(1)A person steals who, without the consent of the owner, fraudulently and without a claim of right made in good faith, takes and carries away anything capable of being stolen with intent permanently to deprive the owner thereof.
(2)Simple larceny shall be an offence punishable on indictment with imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years.
2 Robbery
Every person who robs any person, or steals any chattel, money, or valuable security from the person of another, shall be guilty of a felony and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen years.
Part IIBurglary and Housebreaking
3 Burglary in a Dwelling-House
Every person who in the night breaks and enters the dwelling-house of another with intent to commit any felony therein shall be guilty of the felony termed burglary, and liable to imprisonment for life.
4 Receiving Stolen Property
Every person who receives any property knowing the same to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained shall be guilty of an offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen years.
Part IIIMalicious Damage
5 Malicious Injury to Property
Whosoever unlawfully and maliciously commits any damage, injury, or spoil to or upon any real or personal property whatsoever shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £20.

This Act may be cited as the Larceny and Property Offences Act.
