1 Gender and Number

In every Act passed by Parliament, unless the contrary intention appears:

(a)words importing the masculine gender shall include females;

(b)words in the singular shall include the plural, and words in the plural shall include the singular.

2 Definitions of Official Expressions

(1)The expression "His Majesty" or "the Crown" shall mean His Majesty King OB2035, His Heirs and Successors according to law.

(2)The expression "month" shall mean calendar month.

(3)The expression "land" shall include messuages, tenements, hereditaments, houses, and buildings of any tenure.

Part IIEffect of Repeals

3 Effect of Repeal

Where any Act repeals a former enactment, the repeal shall not affect the previous operation of anything duly done or suffered under that enactment, nor affect any right, privilege, obligation, or liability acquired or incurred thereunder.

4 Citation

This Act may be cited as the Interpretation Act.
