Part IThe House of Keys

1 Composition and Election

(1)The House of Keys shall consist of twenty-four members elected by the qualified voters of the Sheadings and Town constituencies of the Island.

(2)The House of Keys shall choose one of their members to be the Speaker of the House of Keys, who shall preside over all separate sittings of the Keys.

2 Privileges of the Keys

No member of the House of Keys shall be liable to any civil action or arrest for any speech, vote, or motion made within the House of Keys or in Tynwald Court.

Part IIThe Legislative Council

3 The Legislative Council

The Legislative Council shall consist of the Lieutenant Governor, the First Deemster, the Lord Bishop of Sodor and Man, the Attorney General, and seven members elected by the House of Keys.

Part IIITynwald Court

4 Sittings of Tynwald Court

(1)The Lieutenant Governor, the Council, and the House of Keys shall sit together as the Tynwald Court for the disposal of financial and legislative business.

(2)When voting in Tynwald Court, the Council and the Keys shall deliberate as one body, but shall vote separately as distinct branches of the legislature.

5 Citation

This Act may be cited as the Tynwald Proceedings and House of Keys Act.
